TROPICAL STORM ANDREA FORCES STATE PARK CAMPGROUND CLOSURES

~State Parks evacuate campgrounds due to tornado and flood warnings~

TALLAHASSEE – The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Florida Park Service is issuing 30 state park campground closures due to Tropical Storm Andrea's expected landfall in the Big Bend region. As of Thursday, all parks remain open for day use except for Anclote Key Preserve.
Tropical Storm Andrea is expected to make landfall Thursday in the vicinity of Cedar Key. The primary effects from Andrea are expected to be heavy rainfall across much of the Florida peninsula and southeastern U.S, minor to locally moderate storm surge flooding along portions of the west coast of Florida, and isolated tornadoes across the Florida peninsula. Numerous tornado warnings and river flood warnings are in effect across the state.
The Department advises that the public check the state parks website for updates on the status of parks and trails, which park staff is constantly updating. For the most up to date alerts on Tropical Storm Andrea's effects, follow the Department on Twitter @FLDepAlert and @FLStateParks.
