The Miami Beach Cultural Affairs Program, with guidance from the Miami Beach Cultural Arts Council, develops, coordinates and promotes the performing and visual arts groups in Miami Beach. To date, Cultural Affairs has awarded over $10 million in grants to approximately 130 diverse not-for-profit arts groups, which contribute so richly to the artistic landscape of the City, proving that the Council plays an integral leadership role in supporting, promoting and advocating the unique and extensive scope of cultural offerings in Miami Beach.

Spring Lecture Series: The case of the missing Miami detective, Michael Shayne FREE

Lecture by Susan Weiss. Michael Shayne was the creation of the novelist Davis Dresser who wrote these under the name Brett Halliday. Dresser lived in Miami from approximately 1927 to 1938 and made his living as a civil engineer. The lecture will present a picture of South Florida of that time period, and show how the area provided a wealth of material for the genre of noir detective fiction in the style of Dashiel Hammett and Raymond Chandler.

Ante la situacion de Venezuela IVAC se Pronuncia

 CONVOCATORIA


La situación en Venezuela en este momento es muy difícil. Ante la desesperación del pueblo por los grandes problemas del país (desabastecimiento, inflación, inseguridad, desempleo, regalos a otros países, corrupción, cortes eléctricos, colapso de los servicios públicos, etc) los estudiantes y dirigentes políticos han decidido protestar, lo cual ha causado en el gobierno una gran molestia que ha llevado incluso a que se apresen a varias personas y se le agredan a manifestantes.

El gobierno criminaliza la protesta, no tolera que el pueblo se exprese pacíficamente exigiendo sus derechos. La gran verdad es que el gobierno venezolano cada día viola más la constitución y los derechos humanos con la represión que lleva a cabo. Cada vez se coartan más los derechos de los venezolanos.

Recientemente en la isla de Margarita se apresaron a 7 personas entre ellos dos concejales. Y en los Estado Mérida y Táchira muchos estudiantes han quedado heridos producto de la represión que realiza el gobierno y sus bandas armadas.

Para mañana 12 de febrero el movimiento estudiantil ha llamado a protestas en todo el país y a esta convocatoria pacifica se ha sumado la mesa de la unidad democrática y los diversos sectores de la sociedad civil.
Pedimos a nuestros Senadores, Congresistas y demás autoridades del Gobierno de USA, que se manifiesten y apoyen a los movimientos democráticos en Venezuela que en estos momentos luchan por liberarse de los representantes de los hermanos Castro quienes defienden sus intereses en Venezuela.
Y a todos los compatriotas en el mundo les pedimos se organicen para que el día de mañana hayan manifestaciones en todo el mundo donde viva un Venezolano, nuestros hermanos necesitan nuestro apoyo en estos momentos críticos para el Pais.

Como bien saben la mayoría, Venezuela está pasando por momentos difíciles; estudiantes entre muchas otras personas están siendo disparados y agredidos por ejercer su derecho constitucional a poder protestar. Protestar es un derecho humano y es algo que nosotros como estudiantes que también somos deberíamos defender.
En éste día les pedimos solamente que siempre lleven consigo algo de Venezuela (Gorra, franela, camisa vinotinto, etc.) con esto representarán su apoyo a los estudiantes que están siendo agredidos en Venezuela por protestar pacíficamente. Además de esto hagan saber a sus seguidores en twitter e Instagram y sus amigos en Facebook que apoyan a nuestros hermanos venezolanos que están dando todo por su patria en estos días poniendo tweets sugeridos abajo o creando sus propios tweets con mensajes de apoyo hacia Venezuela, hacer retweets de fotos que vean para que sus seguidores se enteren, compartir noticias en Facebook, twitter, imagines impactantes en Instagram, etc.
Nuestra mision es hacer saber que desde el exterior nosotros apoyamos a los estudiantes en Venezuela que dan la cara por el país y también hacer saber a las personas que aún no saben la realidad que estamos viviendo nosotros, nuestras familias y amigos.

Como es habitual todos los jueves en la ciudad del Doral se realizan desayunos empresariales, con el fin de presentar un proyecto, debatir un tema en particular, evaluar un negocio y ante todo hacer relaciones interpersonales y profesionales dentro del sector.

Este jueves se tuvo como expositor al Cónsul General de Ecuador, Eduardo Rivadeneira. Su charla estuvo direccionada de  manera motivacional, ofreciendo ayuda a personas con la iniciativa de crear su propia empresa, para que no se limitaran y creyeran que si se puede progresar.

"ayudar es más que dar. Ayudar es una oportunidad, sólo es creer y no desistir y así obtienes algo positivo para la vida no solo profesional sino personal". Fueron algunas palabras con las que finalizó el Cónsul su exposición. 

También estuvo presente Cesar Grajales de Libre Iniciativa (THE LIBRE INITIATIVE), hablando sobre la nueva Reforma de la salud, ya que esta información es importante y toda la  comunidad la debe conocer.

Debo agregar que los desayunos que ofrece Americas Community Center, se realizan con el objetivo de procrear un espacio de interacción, donde la crítica, las ideas y tu negocio no tiene límite de ascender.

Take your sweetheart on a romantic moonlight paddle at Manatee Springs State Park. The two-hour tours are available on both Friday, Feb. 14 and Saturday, Feb. 15 and begin at 6:30 pm.
Love birds are able to take a full moon beach stroll at Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area at Flagler Beach on Valentine’s Day. Join a ranger underneath the light of a full moon at 5:30 pm and learn about some interesting moon facts.
The Valentine’s Day Sunset Cruise at Crystal River Preserve State Park sets sail at 5:30 pm on Thursday, Feb. 13, Friday, Feb. 14 and Saturday, Feb. 15. Valentine’s Day games and prizes will entertain you as you witness a spectacular sunset on the Gulf of Mexico.
Edward Ball Wakulla Springs State Park is offering a Sweethearts Forever evening cruise on Saturday, Feb. 15. The cruise begins at  5:15 p.m. At the conclusion of the river tour, a buffet featuring all types of delicious foods will be provided along with the beautiful sounds of the Dorian Q Jazz Quartet. $25 per person.

Experience History of the 34th Annual Reenactment of the Civil War Battle at Olustee

Join us for the 38th Annual Reenactment of the Battle of Olustee. Fought on Feb. 20, 1864, Olustee Battlefield Historic State Park is commemorating the 150-year anniversary of the Battle of Olustee. Full-scale artillery, mounted cavalry and three African American regiments took part in the battle that ended with 2,807 casualties and a Confederate victory.
As Florida’s first state park, Olustee Battlefield prides itself in the reenactment. Throughout the weekend, more than 2,000 demonstrators will present living history impressions of military and civilian life at the time of Florida’s largest Civil War battle. The reenactment of a Civil War battle will take place on Saturday at 3:30 pm, whereas the Battle of Olustee Reenactment will begin at 1:30 pm on Sunday.
Period music concerts, crafts, lectures, battlefield surgical practice and the lives of black and white civilians during the war will be portrayed.
The event reenactment will take place on Friday, Feb. 14, Saturday, Feb. 15, and Sunday, Feb. 16 from 8 am to 5 pm.
